Use the current physical product label and product-specific documentation when evaluating ingredients and allergens.
U.S. major food allergens
Nine major allergens
Under U.S. federal law, the nine major food allergens are milk, eggs, fish, Crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans and sesame. Sesame has been included as a major food allergen since January 1, 2023.
A separate “Contains” statement may not appear when the allergen source is already properly identified in the ingredient list.
Product-specific information
Always review the current package
Products sold by Karabetian may be made, packed or labeled by different manufacturers and facilities. Ingredients, recipes, labels and cross-contact conditions vary by product and may change.
A sitewide notice should not be interpreted as saying that every product contains, or may contain, every major food allergen.
Before purchasing or using a product
Website information does not replace the physical label
Always review the complete ingredient list and any “Contains” or allergen advisory statement on the current physical package each time a product is purchased or used. Website text and images may not reflect a recent supplier, formula, package or facility change.
When information is unclear
Do not rely on the website alone. Wholesale customers should contact Karabetian sales or account support and provide the item or SKU and, when available, the lot code. Current ingredient, allergen, label, specification or manufacturer documentation may be supplied where applicable.
For manufacturer-packaged products, product-specific ingredient and cross-contact information is supplied by the manufacturer. Restaurants, retailers, distributors and foodservice operators should use current labels and documentation when developing their own allergen information and should manage cross-contact within their storage, preparation and service operations.
