Do not submit Social Security numbers, bank information, identification documents, health information, or other sensitive information through our general Contact Us form or ordinary email. Use only the form or secure method designated for that purpose.
How We Collect Information
We collect information directly from you; automatically from your browser or device when you use our website; from the business or organization you represent; from references and verification sources you authorize; and from our service providers, sales representatives, logistics providers, professional advisers, public sources, and business partners.
Our website uses WordPress and Forminator to operate forms. Form submissions are processed through that environment, stored with the relevant form entry, and may be delivered by email to designated Karabetian personnel. Uploaded files are handled as part of the related submission. Access is limited according to business need, although no method of storage or electronic transmission is completely secure.
How We Use Information
We may use personal information to:
- review wholesale, existing-customer, credit, employment, contact, and store requests;
- verify a business, license, permit, owner, guarantor, bank, trade reference, or credit history;
- create and administer customer, supplier, portal, and credit accounts;
- process orders, invoices, payments, deliveries, returns, claims, and collections;
- provide SupplierMate registration or customer-portal access where approved;
- respond to inquiries and provide customer service;
- communicate about products, services, availability, account activity, and business opportunities;
- send marketing communications where permitted and manage communication preferences;
- recruit and evaluate job applicants;
- operate, secure, troubleshoot, analyze, and improve our website, forms, catalog, products, services, and business operations;
- detect and prevent fraud, misuse, security incidents, and other harmful activity;
- maintain accounting, tax, legal, compliance, and business records; and
- exercise or defend legal rights and comply with applicable law, court orders, audits, and lawful government requests.
Cookies, Analytics, and Other Website Technologies
Our website and service providers use cookies, scripts, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies. These technologies may support:
- Website operation and security: page delivery, form functionality, session management, fraud and spam prevention, and performance.
- Analytics: understanding visits, traffic sources, page and product views, catalog activity, and other website interactions.
- Functionality: address autocomplete, maps, location searches, embedded content, social-media features, and customer-portal links.
- Communications and marketing: measuring permitted email or website engagement and managing communications.
Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 (“GA4”) to understand how visitors use our website and to improve website performance and customer experience. GA4 may use first-party cookies and collect information such as a device or browser identifier, Internet Protocol address, approximate location, referring page, pages and products viewed, and interaction events.
Our analytics implementation may record events such as viewing a catalog or product page, clicking a catalog, telephone, email, or customer-portal link, or starting or successfully submitting a form. These analytics events are designed to describe the interaction and not to transmit the contents of fields you enter into a form. Google processes analytics information under its own terms and privacy practices. You can learn more in the Google Privacy Policy and can use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Google reCAPTCHA
We use Google reCAPTCHA on forms to help prevent spam, fraud, and abuse. reCAPTCHA may collect device, browser, cookie, interaction, and network information to evaluate whether activity appears legitimate. Its use is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Google Terms of Service.
Google Maps and Places
Address autocomplete, store-location, or map features may use Google Maps or Google Places. When you use those features, Google may receive your Internet Protocol address, device information, and the address, ZIP code, or location query you enter. Google’s terms and privacy practices apply to that processing.
Mailchimp
Mailchimp components may support email communications and related website or commerce measurement where those features are enabled. Mailchimp may receive contact information that you provide for communications and may use cookies or similar technologies to measure permitted engagement. Mailchimp processes that information under its own privacy practices.
Instagram and Other Social Features
Our website may display Instagram content or other social-media links, feeds, or embedded features. The provider may receive information about your device, browser, cookies, and interaction with the feature, particularly if you are signed in to that provider. Your use of those services is governed by the provider’s privacy policy.
Cookie and Browser Choices
Most browsers allow you to delete or block cookies and control certain site permissions. Blocking cookies or scripts may affect forms, maps, address autocomplete, embedded content, and other website functions. Our website does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals because there is no uniform industry standard for those signals. Where applicable law requires a different browser-based opt-out preference signal to be honored, we will handle it as required by that law.
SupplierMate and Other Linked Services
Approved customers may receive registration or access to SupplierMate, a separately operated customer portal. When you follow a SupplierMate link, register, sign in, or place an order, SupplierMate may receive information needed to identify and administer your account, provide portal functions, and process orders. SupplierMate’s own terms and privacy practices apply to its services.
Our website may link to other websites or services that we do not control. This Privacy Policy does not govern those third parties. Review their privacy policies before providing information to them.
How We Disclose Information
We may disclose personal information, as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, to:
- website hosting, WordPress, Forminator, form-processing, email, document-management, security, analytics, marketing, and information-technology providers;
- SupplierMate and other account, ordering, or customer-support platforms;
- banks, payment processors, accountants, credit and verification providers, trade references, collections providers, insurers, attorneys, auditors, and other professional advisers;
- carriers, warehouses, delivery providers, brokers, suppliers, and other parties involved in fulfilling or supporting a transaction;
- government agencies, courts, regulators, law enforcement, or other persons when we believe disclosure is required or permitted by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, property, or security;
- a potential or actual buyer, successor, lender, or adviser in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, sale, transfer, or other business transaction; and
- another party at your direction or with your consent.
Service providers may process information in locations outside California or outside the United States, subject to their terms and applicable law.
Marketing Communications
You may unsubscribe from marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link in the message or by contacting us. An unsubscribe request does not prevent necessary non-marketing communications about an application, account, order, delivery, invoice, payment, security issue, or other business transaction.
Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain and administer an account or business relationship, and to satisfy accounting, tax, credit, collections, legal, security, dispute-resolution, and recordkeeping requirements. Retention depends on the type and sensitivity of the information, the nature of the relationship, legal requirements, and whether the information is needed to establish, exercise, or defend legal rights. We may retain backups and records for an additional period where reasonably necessary or legally required.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information based on its nature and sensitivity. Access to personal information is limited according to business need. Nevertheless, no website, email, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Contact us promptly if you believe information submitted to us may have been accessed or used without authorization.
Accessing or Updating Your Information
You may ask us to review or update personal information associated with you by contacting us using the information below. We may need to verify your identity, authority, and relationship with Karabetian before acting. Some records cannot be changed or deleted when we must retain them for legal, accounting, transaction, security, credit, collections, or other legitimate purposes.
California Privacy Notice
This section provides additional information for California residents. Karabetian often handles personal information in a business-to-business context, including information about owners, guarantors, customer and supplier representatives, sales contacts, and job applicants.
The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended (“CCPA”), applies only when statutory thresholds and other requirements are met. Publishing this notice is not a representation that Karabetian currently meets every threshold or is subject to every CCPA obligation. We review applicability based on our revenue, data practices, and the number of California consumers or households whose personal information is bought, sold, or shared. If and to the extent the CCPA applies to Karabetian and to a particular request, we will provide the rights and disclosures required by that law.
California Categories of Personal Information
Depending on your relationship with us, the personal information described in this Policy may fall within the following California categories:
- Identifiers: names, aliases, postal addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers, online identifiers, Internet Protocol addresses, account credentials, signatures, Social Security numbers, and government-issued identification information.
- Customer-record and financial information: contact details, signatures, business and ownership information, tax, licensing and permit information, bank and payment information, credit information, and related records.
- Commercial information: product interests, estimates, orders, invoices, deliveries, account history, purchase history, payment status, and related communications.
- Internet or other electronic-network activity: browser and device information, cookie or similar identifiers, referring pages, browsing and search activity on our website, and interactions with pages, products, forms, catalog links, and customer-portal links.
- Geolocation information: approximate location derived from an Internet Protocol address and an address, ZIP code, or location submitted for delivery, account, map, store-request, or similar functions.
- Sensory and submitted content: photographs, signatures, documents, and other files or content that you submit.
- Professional or employment-related information: business affiliation, title, qualifications, work history, resume, references, and application information.
- Inferences: business and product interests, account needs, and credit or account assessments derived from the information described above.
- Sensitive personal information: Social Security number, account credentials, financial-account and routing information, government identification information, and other sensitive information submitted for an authorized credit or account purpose.
We obtain these categories from the sources and use and disclose them for the business and commercial purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Recipients may include the categories of service providers and other parties identified in the “How We Disclose Information” section.
Sales and Sharing Under California Law
California law defines “sell” and “share” broadly. Those definitions can apply to some transfers involving analytics, marketing, advertising, or social-media technologies even when no money is paid for personal information. This Policy does not state that every technology-related disclosure falls outside those definitions. The website technologies and recipients currently identified are described above. If Karabetian is subject to the CCPA and a disclosure constitutes a sale or sharing under that law, we will provide and honor the opt-out methods required by applicable law.
California Privacy Rights
If the CCPA applies to Karabetian and your request, and subject to legal exceptions, you may have the right to:
- know the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected about you, the sources, purposes, and categories of recipients;
- request deletion of personal information;
- request correction of inaccurate personal information;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information;
- limit certain uses and disclosures of sensitive personal information when that right applies; and
- not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising applicable privacy rights.
These rights are not absolute. For example, we may retain or use information when reasonably necessary to complete a transaction, administer an account, collect a debt, detect security incidents, comply with law, maintain records, or exercise or defend legal rights.
Submitting a California Privacy Request
To submit a request, email info@karabetian.com with the subject line “California Privacy Request,” call +1 (323) 664-8956, or write to the address in the Contact Us section below. Describe the right you wish to exercise and provide your name, business affiliation if applicable, and the email address or telephone number associated with your interaction with us. Do not send a Social Security number, financial-account number, password, or identification document in the initial request.
We will verify requests using information reasonably appropriate to the nature and sensitivity of the request. We may ask for additional information and may deny a request when we cannot verify identity or authority or when an exception applies. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf, but we may require proof of the agent’s authority and verification of your identity as permitted by law.
California Direct-Marketing Disclosure Requests
California residents may also request information about certain disclosures of personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes under California’s “Shine the Light” law, if that law applies. Submit such a request using the contact information below and identify it as a “California Direct Marketing Request.”
Children’s Privacy
Our website and services are intended for businesses and adults and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 submitted personal information to us, contact us so that we can review and address it.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, services, technologies, or legal obligations. We will post the revised Policy on this page and update the “Last Updated” date. If required by law, we will provide additional notice of a material change.
